Born
and raised in Basel, Switzerland, Daniel grew up with an abiding
interest in both film and computer games.
He
spent his formative years making playhouses out of Apple PET boxes
and furthering his "Lemonade Stand" empire.
At age twelve,
he wrote his first screenplay, a blatant rip-off of "Grease
2", which Swiss National Television (SRF) decided to help
him produce on Super 8 film for their series "Saelber Gmacht"
(Self-Made).
After the
glorious days of VIC20 "Pacman" and Atari 2600 wonders
like "Chopper Command" and "Moon Buggy", Daniel
and his brother Michael (www.bitsnap.ch) spent hours upon hours
learning English by playing "The Hobbit" on ZX Spectrum,
translating every word from a German-English dictionary.
The early
English lessons paid off: In 1992, Daniel moved to Los Angeles,
California to study screenwriting at the University of Southern
California's School of Cinema-Television.
After graduating
in 1996, Daniel wrote and directed his first independently produced
feature film "KOLOBOS". It can currently be seen on
Showtime.
Today, Daniel is in active
development of ideas blending his longtime interest in film and
games. He envisions a bright future for interactive entertainment
that can both enlighten and entertain.
